Going off hormonal birth control: a workshop

This online workshop hosted by the author of “Sweetening the Pill,” Holly Grigg-Spall, lends social and emotional support to those choosing to go off hormonal birth control. Drawing on her own experience and the experiences of the 100s of women she has interviewed, Holly will guide you through the process of unpacking your relationship to hormonal birth control, your cycles, and your period.

“It’s so important to support one another, because in reality your success is everyone’s success” – Holly Grigg-Spall

What we’ll discuss:

  • the medical sociology of the birth control pill
  • unpacking how we personally relate to the pill
  • going from birth control to body literacy
  • myths and facts about fertility and birth control
  • challenges we face when going off hormonal birth control
  • making the transition to non-hormonal options
  • your health and wellness post-hormonal birth control

This workshop is for:

  • anyone still on hormonal birth control and thinking about going off
  • anyone who went off hormonal birth control in the recent or distant past and is still struggling
  • anyone who supports other women who are going off the pill

Workshop format:

  • 1 online webinar recorded for a small group in 2020

What makes this different:

  • I’m not trying to sell you supplements.
  • I know we need to overthrow the capitalist patriarchy, but until then I believe this workshop can help.
  • I don’t think going off the pill should be framed as a just another path to a self-improvement or even just another way to wellness.
  • I believe in the importance of collective action and less of a focus on the isolated individual managing their own body.
